Certificate of Occupancy

CO Process

A Certificate of Occupancy (CO) is a document issued by the City of Crowley that certifies a building's compliance with all adopted city codes and zoning regulations.

Residential COs are issued once a new dwelling has passed all required inspections. These are valid for the life of the structure.

Commercial COs are issued once a new commercial building has passed all required inspection. However, a new CO must be applied for when there is a change of occupancy, a change of use, or ownership.  Additionally, commercial buildings are required to obtain an annual fire inspection.

When applying for a Commercial CO, you will need to supply (4) items:

  1. Copy of the lease agreement or proof of ownership
  2. A Letter of Intent detailing all intended business operations and services.
  3. A labeled and dimensioned floor plan.
  4. A site plan showing all exterior drives, parking areas, and accessory buildings.

Once applied for, the Commercial CO review time typically takes (3) business days. We highly recommend you contact the city to verify any zoning or building requirements before signing any contracts or lease agreements.

Certificate of Occupancy applications must be submitted online through the city's MyGov permit portal, CLICK HERE.
