About Us

Humble Beginnings

The Town of Crowley was incorporated in February 1951 and is located in southern Tarrant County. In September of 1972, the town council voted to change the designation of Crowley from a town to a city.  Currently, the City of Crowley has a population of 19,000 with an annual growth rate of 4.98% since 2010.

The Crowley Police Department was formed on Jan. 19, 1961.  The department started with one police officer, one patrol car and one radio working out of a small office in City Hall.  As the city grew, the police department moved into a 6,700-square-foot building located at 201 South Texas Street.  The department consisted of 12 police officers, four telecommunication officers and one support staff personnel.

Today, the police department consists of 43 members and 15 volunteers. It operates out of a 22,000-square-foot building located at 617 West Business FM 1187, including a jail that can house up to 26 detainees.
