City of Crowley Outdoor Burning Requirements: (when there is no burn ban in effect)
- The ONLY burning that is allowed in the City of Crowley is in a fire pit
- In addition to the guidelines set forth below by Tarrant County, the following must be followed:
- Shall not be operated within 15 feet of a structure, combustible material, or property line
- Wood burning fire pits must have a maximum burn bowl (interior part) diameter of 36 inches and height of 24 inches.
- Commercially available portable outdoor fire pits must be used with a screen in place during burning
- Barrels are not allowed for burning
- Burning of any kind on the ground is PROHIBITED
- Burning of leaves, large tree limbs, sawn lumber, construction material, trash or other household debris is PROHIBITED
- Fire must be under direct supervision of a responsible adult at ALL times
- Keep a water source and/or fire extinguisher nearby.
- Any Fire Officer of the Crowley Fire Department has the authority to extinguish any fire that they feel constitutes a potential safety hazard.
Unincorporated Tarrant County Outdoor Burning Requirements: (when there is no burn ban in effect)
- Contact the Tarrant County Fire Alarm Center at 817-232-9800 on the day you plan to burn to register your address and to confirm if burning is allowed
- NO burning if wind speeds (either consistent or gusts) are greater than 23 miles per hour
- The party responsible for the burn must always be present and remains liable for all damages
- Have a cellphone and water available
- Begin burning no earlier than one hour after sunrise and end the same day no later than one hour before sunset - NO BURNING AT NIGHT
- Make sure the smoke does not blow toward a neighbor's house or onto a road
- The burn must be downwind and at least 300 feet from structures on adjacent properties
- Only burn brush, tree limbs, grass clippings or leaves. The material MUST be generated from the property
- NO hauling in material to burn
- NO burning of construction material, heavy oils or chemical wastes
- To conduct prescribed burns, you must contact the Tarrant County Fire Marshal's Office at 817-884-1315 for approval and permits
