Boil Water Notice

The City of Crowley Water Department is issuing the following boil water notice:

July 8, 2026

Due to reduced system pressure, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has required the City of Crowley public water system to notify all customers in Crowley to boil their water prior to consumption (e.g., washing hands/face, brushing teeth, drinking, etc). Children, seniors, and persons with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable to harmful bacteria, and all customers should follow these directions).

To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and ice making should be boiled and cooled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes. The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes.

In lieu of boiling, individuals may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source for drinking water or human consumption purposes.

When it is no longer necessary to boil the water, the public water system officials will notify customers that the water is safe for drinking water or human consumption purposes.

Once the boil water notice is no longer in effect, the public water system will issue a notice to customers that rescinds the boil water notice in a manner similar to this notice.

Please share this information with all the other people who drink this water, especially those who may not have received this notice directly (for example, people in apartments, nursing homes, schools, and businesses). You can do this by posting this notice in a public place or distributing copies by hand or mail.

If you have questions concerning this matter, you may contact City of Crowley (817) 297-2201 during regular business hours, Monday – Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

PLEASE NOTE THAT IF YOU RECEIVE WATER SERVICES FROM THE CITY OF CROWLEY, YOU ARE UNDER A BOIL WATER NOTICE UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE FROM THE CITY.

We appreciate your patience during this time.

FAQs

IMPORTANT: This Boil Water Notice is a precautionary measure required by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) because water pressure dropped below 20 psi during emergency repairs. The notice will remain in effect until laboratory testing confirms the water is safe.

Why was a Boil Water Notice issued?

State regulations require a Boil Water Notice whenever water pressure drops below 20 psi. This is a precaution while the water system is tested.

What should I boil water for?

Use boiled water for drinking, cooking, brushing your teeth, making ice, washing fruits and vegetables, preparing baby formula, and food preparation.

Can I shower or bathe?

Yes. Adults and older children may shower or bathe normally. Avoid swallowing the water. Young children should be supervised to help prevent them from swallowing bath water.

Can I wash my hands?

Yes. You may continue washing your hands with tap water and soap during the Boil Water Notice. Proper handwashing with soap and water is safe for everyday activities such as after using the restroom, before eating, and after coughing or sneezing. If you are preparing food or caring for infants, elderly individuals, or someone with a weakened immune system, using boiled (and cooled) or bottled water for handwashing is an added precaution.

Can I wash dishes?

Yes. Dishwashers with a sanitizing cycle are generally acceptable. If washing dishes by hand, properly wash, rinse, and sanitize them.

Can I wash clothes?

Yes. Laundry may be washed as normal.

Can I drink the water if I have a filter?

Generally, no. Most household filters, including refrigerator, pitcher, faucet-mounted, and whole-house filters, are not designed to remove bacteria or microorganisms.

Can I use my refrigerator water dispenser or ice maker?

No. Do not use water from the dispenser or consume ice made during the notice. Discard existing ice and make fresh ice after the notice is lifted.

Can I use my coffee maker or Keurig?

Use only boiled or bottled water until the notice is lifted.

How long will the Boil Water Notice last?

The notice will remain in effect until certified laboratory testing confirms the water is safe and all TCEQ requirements have been met.

Do you have an ETA?

An exact timeframe is not available. The City must wait for certified laboratory results before the notice can be lifted.

How will I know when it's over?

The City will notify residents through its official communication channels as soon as the Boil Water Notice has been rescinded.
