Job Summary

Works in Water /Sewer and Public Works Department. Under the supervision of the Water Maintenance Tech and Water Maintenance Foreman

$16.29

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work in water and sewer
• Replace water meters, repair water leaks, streets, side walks, do clean up and other labor jobs as directed
• Read water meters
• Set up barricades at works sites
• Work mostly outdoors in extreme temperatures including heat, cold, temperature swings, and inclement weather, some exposure to dust, loud noises, odor, electrical, mechanical, and toxic hazards, using proper safety precautions, communicate effectively and courteously with other city employees and the public
• Subject to 24 hours a day on call and mandatory rotating on-call
• Assist with Water, Waste Water, Public Works and other department tasks as assigned by Public Works Administration
• Regular and reliable level of attendance
• Any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• General Labor
• Able to receive, understand, and follow directions
• Able to operate backhoe and other excavation equipment
• Able to operate and utilize the tools necessary to perform job duties
• Able to lift up to 100 pounds; pull, push, or drag up to 150 pounds; sit stand, stoop or twist for extended periods of time

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Valid Texas Driver’s License required
• Must obtain a Commercial Driver’s License Class B within one year
• Must have Class D Water License or obtain within one year
• Must have Class C Water License or obtain within three years
• Previous experience performing work activities in maintenance and/or repair work preferred
