Meet the Chief

Chief Pleasant Brooks currently leads the Crowley Fire Department. After serving as the interim fire chief for four months, Chief Brooks was selected by the city manager and confirmed by the City Council on July 17, 2014. He is the 13th fire chief to lead the department since it was first established in 1951.

As a proud native of Crowley and graduate of Crowley High School, Chief Brooks began his fire service career with the Crowley Fire Department in 1989 and rose through the ranks. He was promoted to engineer/driver in 1990; lieutenant in 1991; captain in 1994; and battalion chief in 1999. In 2000, while serving as a part-time deputy fire chief for the Crowley Fire Department, he took a full-time position as a firefighter for the Bedford Fire Department. After his retirement from Bedford in May 2013, he continued to serve as Crowley's Deputy Fire Chief.

As fire chief, he leads the activities of the department including emergency operations, prevention and administration. Through his leadership, the department strives to prevent, protect and minimize the loss of life and property of its residents. The increasingly growing population of the city creates greater demand and necessity for a well-trained, highly efficient and timely responsive team. He aims to meet these challenges and ensure the highest level of service for the City of Crowley.
