Contractors will be mobilizing their efforts toward the South Magnolia Street railroad crossing this week, and South Magnolia Street railroad crossing will permanently close to vehicular traffic at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 14.

Please see the attached map for detour routes.

This next step in the Quiet Zone Project will require some construction activities to the South Magnolia Street crossing that will last until Feb. 1, 2024.

These construction activities will include roadway demolition with permanent removal of both crossing approaches; new roadway reconstruction on S. Magnolia St.; new guard rail installation along Hampton Road; new curb line installation along Hampton Road; and new signage in the area.

The purpose of this next phase of the Quiet Zone Project is to ultimately remove the S. Magnolia Street railroad crossing permanently. Once the construction activities are complete (Feb 2024), the southern limits of S. Magnolia Street will end in a turnaround (see map).

Crews are working to reopen the West Mustang Street railroad crossing prior to Wednesday, Dec. 13. The final inspections are occurring Monday (Dec. 11) on the site work, pavement markings and roadway improvements to the Mustang crossing.

NOTE: Crews will not close Magnolia crossing unless the Mustang crossing is reopened.

Thank you for your patience during our Downtown Revitalization Project.
