Recycling
Recycling Collection Day - Wednesday
Please have the Progressive Waste Solutions recycling bins out at the curb by 7 a.m. Recycling may be picked up anytime between 7 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Bins
- Recycling bins must be loaded so as to weigh no more than 50 pounds.
- Only the green Progressive Waste Solutions bins will be collected. Please do not use any other containers provided by previous service companies.
Missed Collection
If you miss a collection day, please call Progressive Waste Solutions at 817-222-2221.
Overflow Items
Recycling will only be picked up if it is in the recycling bin. If you need a second bin, you can pick one up for a one-time $5 charge. Please stop by the Utility Customer Service Department located in City Hall to pick one up.
Acceptable Items
Metal & Aluminum Cans
- Rinse and drain your metal food cans composed of tin, steel or aluminum and place loose in your bin.
- It is not necessary to remove the label, but please remove the lids and all food waste.
Plastic
- Rinse and place soft drink liter bottles and milk jugs in your bin.
- You may now also include No. 1, No. 2, No. 3, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 7 plastics.
- Shampoo bottles are accepted.
- Please remove all caps.
Glass
- Acceptable glass includes clear, brown and green bottles.
- Please remove all caps.
Newspaper, Magazines and Catalogs
- Place dry newspaper, magazines, catalogs and other paper items such as mail, paper bags or other paper in the bottom of your bin.
- Slick or glossy inserts are accepted with the newspaper.
- Please don’t put out on a rainy day.
- Be sure that the newspaper is secured so it doesn’t fly away.
Unacceptable Items
Items that cannot be recycled
- Aluminum foil
- Butter tubs
- Ceramics
- Containers with openings as large as the container
- Diapers
- Large plastic buckets
- Metal other than food and beverage cans
- Mirrors
- Notebook paper
- Plastic bottles that have contained oil or petroleum by-products
- Plate glass
- Safety glass such as windshields
- Scrap metal
- Window glass
